The 2003 Charity Ball raised a record $25,108 for five local charities: Crisis Ministries, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, the Wellness House of Our Lady of Mercy, Hospice of Charleston, and the Lowcountry Children's Center.

Throughout December, January, and February, the 31 members of the Medical Student Alumni Council gathered goods, services, and gift certificates to be auctioned off during the evening.

MSAC collected more than 400 items, including Spoleto USA tickets, a stay at the Charleston Place Hotel, dinner at Magnolia's restaurant, a Wild Dunes Resort golf package, SCUBA diving lessons, an autographed New York Giants souvenir football, and a week-long stay at a beach house in Puerto Rico. Guests were able to peruse these donations during the new Silent Auction Preview held at 7 p.m. The evening ended with a Live Auction featuring an AKC registered yellow Labrador puppy. -Catalyst, 2003
